GlitterBug will convert your “stuff” you no longer want or need…into CASH

soldThe Problem

You own items of value that you don’t need or want anymore. Things like gently used designer items, collectibles, antiques, andso on. They’re cluttering up your garage, your closet, or your life. You don’t want to donate them because they’re worth money. You can’t sell them at a yard sale because you won’t get what they’re worth. You could post them on Craig’s List, but don’t want to deal with strangers. eBay might work, but you don’t have a seller’s account, a history, nor the knowledge to do it successfully.

The Solution

Call GlitterBug! We’ll collect your items, take care of ALL the details, liquidate them through combined online and live auction, and the bestpart – send you a check in the mail!

Laughter can Cure What Ails Ya!

We like having fun at Glitterbug. It makes the days go by faster and that much more enjoyable. Our parties Photobucketare fun, too. Who doesn’t like being around people who are making money and meeting new people? A gold buying business is fun to be part of because you’re making people happy by buying their gold jewelry. And because we pay better than our competitors our gold sellers leave with smiles on their faces. We love that.

So what has me thinking about happy people? I found this image on Facebook and it made me smile. I love the sentiment – wrinkles in the right places because of smiling. And then I thought about laughing. Who doesn’t like a big belly laugh? I’d heard that laughter could have positive effects on our health, so I did a […]

How Do You Know If Your Silver Is Good Quality?

So…you know your silver is real, but how do you know if it’s good quality?

Sterling Silver is actually really easy to test.  When our Buyers are evaluating silver here’s how we do it.  And don’t let our name GlitterBug Gold Parties fool ya.  We also buy silver as well.

So first we file a small groove in an inconspicuous place on the piece. Then we drop nitric acid on the metal and watch the reaction. If your silver is good quality, the drop will turn a creamy milky white color. If it’s silver-plated brass, nickel silver or low-quality silver alloys, it will either turn green or start bubbling and smoking. Depending on the alloy, the reaction can be quite dramatic.

The National Gold and Silver Marketing Act doesn’t require precious metals to be marked with quality in the U.S. However, if a quality mark is used, that mark must include […]

How Do You Know Your Silver Is Real?

All silver is NOT created equal.  Just because it might have a hallmark that indicates it’s silver (typically .925 or “ster” or “sterling”)…doesn’t mean it IS silver.  It’s possible your piece is silver plated, which means there is a think veneer of real silver overlay.  The “meat” of the piece so to speak, is made of some less expensive type of metal.  Here are some different types of silver to help you identify the different varieties.

  1. To be called Sterling Silver, the alloy must be at least 92.5% silver. This means the silver is blended with copper for the remaining 7.5%. Products made in the U.S. are typically stamped “Sterling” or “S.S.” You might also see “925” stamped on the product. This is most commonly used for goods sold internationally, which identifies the product as 92.5% pure.
  2. Argentium® Sterling Silver is a tarnish-resistant form of silver. A relative newcomer on the […]

Silver At Record Highs – Take Advantage!

Now I realize that you’re probably just as busy as I am on a daily basis. And that although you may have interest in certain things, there’s just not enough time in the day for everything! That’s why I want to shed some light on an opportunity that might be available to you right now.

Did you know that the price of silver has skyrocketed in the last few months? The value has increased to approximately $47 per […]

The Bad News About Diamonds

Okay.  So I have some bad news…and this is unfortunate.  I always thought diamonds were the most precious of natural stones and that’s why they’re so expensive.  Well, it turns out they ARE the most precious, but they’re not as valuable as I thought.  When we decided here at GlitterBug that we wanted to offer our customers more than just gold parties, we began to get educated on diamonds.  Then we learned that the “market value” (or it’s true value) is roughly 6 to 12 times LESS than what we buy them for.

Yep.  You heard me right folks.  When you go to your local jeweler or online store, those prices are marked up a minimum of 6….all the way on up to 12 or 15 times the actual value.  Boy was I shocked.  But I guess it makes sense if you think about it.  If the true value of […]

4 Easy Ways to DetermineThe Value of A Diamond

So, even though we specialize in gold parties here at GlitterBug…we also buy diamonds. As a matter of fact, we’re one of the few gold party companies that DO buy diamonds!

In learning how to check the quality and estimate the market value of a diamond, I thought this information might be valuable to you when either selling your gold jewelry (hopefully at one of our gold parties!), or buying a new piece from a jeweler. Or you might just want to know what they’re worth…just to know. No matter what your goal, determining the value of this precious gem is complicated and there are lots of factors.

You need to be a relatively knowledgeable consumer to determine not only what quality you are willing to pay for, but whether or not the jeweler is asking too high a price. As with […]
