A Little Organization goes a Long Way – Success Sunday

A common issue I hear from people is they struggle with being organized. I’m not an organizational expert, but a little clutter clearing and straightening up of your environment (physical and mental) can do wonders for your productivity and self confidence.

Sometimes all it takes is a subtle reminder to stay on top of your organizational issues. So, here’s an affirmation you can use. (more…)

Agave – All Natural, Right?

A number of my friends made resolutions this year to lose weight and get in shape. One way to do this is to modify how and what you eat. Agave is becoming quite popular, but as with anything that seems to be available in stores today, there can be a dark side to this “all natural” product. The key is knowing who is packaging it and where it’s coming from. More on that below.

It’s January 15, 2012. Do You Know Where Your New Year’s Resolutions Are? – Success Sunday

PhotobucketNew Year’s resolutions . . . Does anyone really keep them? The answer to that question could be “Yes, I did,” even if, like many people, you’ve already abandoned them. Rather than fretting over what you have or haven’t done so far to fulfill your resolutions, you can still accomplish them, whether you start now or even later in the year.

Try these tips to help you get into action and achieve the resolutions you made at the start of 2012:

Tell Everyone. Tell people close to you about your New Year’s resolutions. They’ll be happy to hold you accountable for your success or lack thereof. By doing so, you’ll feel a bigger commitment to actually complete the goal than if you were to keep your resolutions all to yourself. (You might also spur those people […]

The Wisdom of Will Smith

Really? Will Smith you might be asking. Yes.

This video is a powerful testament to what he stands for in his life – and what he tries to convey to his children and others. His message is one of hope, redemption, unwavering focus and strength in the face of adversity.

Here are a few highlights:

He shares his wisdom on life:

  • Love living
  • Greatness is not esoteric
  • We make life complex – it’s not

Yes it can (be that easy):

  • Cultivate a sense of becoming something great than who you are now

There’s no shortcut to success:

  • No matter how talented you are, you’ll fail without skill

Lay one brick at a time:

  • Don’t set out to build a wall; instead, focus on laying one perfect brick at a time. Over time, you’ll have built your wall.

Focus on making a difference:

  • We all have a spiritual responsibility.
  • I want the world to be better because I was here.

Represent an idea:

  • Read “The Alchemist.”

Avoiding an Online Mugging – Protecting Your Identity

PhotobucketIf you’ve ever lost your wallet, then you know how frustrating it can be to contact your credit and debit card companies to ensure your cards aren’t used for nefarious purposes. In this instance, you know you’ve lost something. But what happens when you have no idea that you’re being impersonated? This is the nightmare of online identity theft.

The Internet used to be a novelty; now, it’s a way of life. Companies are moving their data into “the cloud” and bypassing the need for scores of servers on which to store information. Purchasing online is commonplace for most people. This is most evident in the 2011 holiday shopping data where nearly 22 percent (approximately $7 billion) was done online. It’s so simple to do that it’s easy to forget that not everyone we meet online […]

Don’t Be a Grinch! Lose the Bad Mood!

Because this coming Sunday is Christmas Day, we thought we’d post our Success Sunday article today. Which I suppose this means today is now Thoughtful Thursday. 😀

Happy Holidays everyone!

PhotobucketIt never fails. The holiday season swoops down on us like an eagle after a fish and suddenly there’s so much to do! If you’re already super busy in your life, the added responsibilities, stresses and expectations of the holidays can become overwhelming. It’s enough to make someone really, really crabby.

Bad moods are the worst! You might feel yucky about yourself and everything or everyone else – and nobody wants to be around that, especially this time of year. You do need to understand the distinction between a passing bad mood and depression, however. A bad mood […]

Achieving Your New Year’s Resolutions – Success Sunday

PhotobucketIf you’re like many people, you start the New Year off with the high hopes that you’ll achieve the resolutions you’ve set for yourself. But as often happens, the resolutions are abandoned, usually before January is over. We’re out to help you make 2012 different. Just for a moment, imagine how your life could change for the better if you followed through on your resolutions! How would your life be different? How would you feel about yourself?

Change Your Thinking

Well first things first. It starts with the way you think about New Year’s resolutions. Most people make pie-in-the-sky promises that they have no hope of fulfilling. Don’t do that. Instead, consider them little self-improvement promises that can be fulfilled in a step-by-step process. Treat them as precious cargo, something to be nurtured and cared for, much […]

What to Look for When Buying from an Online Jewelry Retailer

In Part 1, we talked about the many reasons to buy jewelry online and how to educate yourself. This post focuses on things to look for when buying from an online jewelry retailer:

Customer Service:  While shopping online means you don’t have to deal with anyone, you’ll want to be able to get any questions you might have answered. Does the retailer have a customer service option? Is there a telephone number or is it only available through chat or email? What are the hours customer service is available?

Shipping Information:  If a retailer doesn’t ship expensive items via FedEx or other insured carrier, run, run away fast. You only want to deal with retailers who ship in a secured fashion and insure their shipments for the full value of their products. This is just common sense.

Return Policy:  Be sure to read the retailer’s return policy thoroughly. How many […]

Buying items such as clothing and shoes seems pretty simple and straightforward. But what about expensive jewelry? If you’re going to plunk down hundreds to thousands of dollars on a piece of jewelry, how can you be sure you’re getting the same quality you would expect at a brick-and-mortar store? Is buying jewelry online even a good idea?

Let’s tackle the last question first. Yes, it is a good idea to buy jewelry online.
