This is the second part of our two part series on what’s hot in jewelry this holiday season.

Trend #5 – Chandelier Earrings

Nothing is more glamorous than a beautiful set of chandelier earrings dancing off your earlobes. They move when you do, highlighting your hair and face and adding elegance and playfulness to your outfit. These come in many styles, colors, gems, diamonds, crystals, settings, etc. Chandelier earrings can look amazing with an evening gown and blue jeans and a t-shirt.

The key to trends is to not wear them all at the same time! Pick one and run with it. Next time, pick another. Experiment with the trends to see what feels right for you and works with your lifestyle and wardrobe. Remember, too, that trends come and go. If being trendy isn’t your thing, then default to the classic looks that tend to stay in style. You can’t go wrong there.

Trend #6 – Lace-like Jewelry

Lace in fashion trends is everywhere this winter. With its breezy open-weave design, lace feminizes everything to which it’s attached to and gives an airy, ethereal quality to shirts, jackets and pants. It’s no surprise that what’s affecting clothing fashions finds its way over to jewelry design, too. Lace-like jewelry designs make so much sense today, given the cost of some of the precious metals used to make them, such as gold. Lace-like jewelry can be big in size, but because of its open design, doesn’t have the heft of solid pieces. Examples of lace-like jewelry are here and here.

Trend #7 – Medallion Pendants

If you love the look of medallions, you’re in luck this year. Medallion pendants are showing up in high fashion circles in a variety of sizes and styles. By definition, a medallion is a typically round metal object that is molded, sculpted, cast or forged, and marked in some way, whether by painting or stamping. Medallions can also have jewels embedded to enhance the design.

Trend #8 – Slice Jewelry

For the person who likes their diamond and gemstone jewelry to be a bit less sparkly, slice jewelry is right up their alley. Slice jewelry is composed of thin slivers of diamonds or gems cut to have few or no facets to catch the light. This creates a jewelry piece that looks unusual and is subtle in its flashiness. These pieces tend to be pricey. If searching online, be specific about what you’re looking for. If you only use “slice jewelry” as your search term, you’ll come up with watermelon slice jewelry, orange slice jewelry and other assorted food items that people wear!
